Bishop Alex J. Smith
Bishop Alex J. Smith accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in 1972 at Holy Mission Holy Church of Deliverance in Pinetops, NC. He moved to Norfolk, Va. in 1973 and took the leadership role in holding Noon Day Prayer at St. Mary's Holy Church of Deliverance for 2 years. He was ordained a Deacon in 1975 at St. Stevenson Holy Church of Deliverance in Pinetops, NC. In 1977, he accepted the call to the ministry.
Bishop Alex J. Smith founded the Jesus Is Calling Broadcast Ministries at WGTM in Wilson, NC and the Pentecostal Temple Radio Broadcast Ministries at Joy 1340 in Greenville, NC. He was appointed Chairman of the Ministerial Board in 1989 for the Holy Churches of Deliverance. He was ordained as an Elder in 1990 and called to Pastor during that same year.
Bishop Emerson L. Brockington appointed him as Administrative Assistant to the Bishop in 1997 and consecrated him to the office of Overseer. In 2004 Bishop Smith was consecrated to the office of Bishop.
Bishop Alex J. Smith is the Pastor and founder of Pentecostal Temple Holy Church of Deliverance in Greenville, NC and founder of Shekinah Temple Holy Church of Deliverance in Rocky Mount, NC. He is also the founder of Pentecostal Temple Residential Services, which is a home for troubled youth, Pentecostal Temple Child Development Center, Pentecostal Temple Food Pantry, and initiated The Meals on Wheels Program and delivering food to the homeless shelter.
He has completed courses in Professional Christian Counseling, Practical Theology at International Seminary and has received a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Theology. He is a member of the Joint College of African-American Pentecostal Bishops.
Bishop Alex J. Smith has ministered within the boarders of USA as well as abroad in the Country of South Africa and the Island of Jamaica.
